Story

Aftermath footage shows damaged buildings and emergency crews at work across multiple regions of Ukraine, following what Ukrainian officials described as a large-scale overnight Russian attack involving more than 370 attack drones and 21 missiles. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the strikes targeted Kyiv and surrounding areas, as well as the Sumy Region, Kharkiv Region, and Chernihiv Region. In Kharkiv, officials said a maternity hospital, a dormitory housing displaced people, a medical college, and residential buildings were damaged. Dozens of people were reported injured, including a child. In Kyiv and the surrounding region, Zelenskyy said energy facilities were the main targets. One person was killed. Zelenskyy said rescue workers, medics, municipal crews, energy workers, and repair teams were deployed at strike sites, and thanked air defense personnel for repelling much of the attack. He called for urgent delivery of air defense systems, including Patriot and NASAMS missiles, saying every delay puts civilian lives and critical infrastructure at risk during winter conditions. Zelenskyy said Ukraine expects full implementation of air defense commitments discussed with U.S. President Donald Trump in Davos. The exact time the footage was recorded could not be independently verified.
