Footage archived by the Tupolev, officially United Aircraft Company Tupolev, shows the Russian Tupolev Tu-144, the world's 1st supersonic transport (SST), made its maiden flight on Dec 31, 1968 in Ramenskoye airfield (now part of Zhukovsky Airport), in Moscow Oblast, Russia — two months before the first flight of the Anglo-French Concorde, making it the world’s first supersonic passenger aircraft to fly.
