Big fight breaks out inside Poland’s zoo

Footage taken by Poland's Wroclaw Zoo shows a tiny Chinese muntjac deer repeatedly approaching a much larger rhinoceros during an unusual encounter at the zoo in Wrocław on January 9, 2026. The muntjac, weighing around 13 kilograms, appeared undeterred as it confronted the 1.7-tonne rhinoceros, which remained calm and at times appeared playful despite the dramatic size difference. The interaction, described by onlookers as a “David versus Goliath” moment, did not escalate into aggression. No injuries were reported, and both animals appeared unharmed following the brief encounter. Zoo officials have not commented on the incident. Such interactions can occasionally occur in controlled zoo environments where animals are accustomed to nearby species.
