Eyewitness footage shows a historic bridge over the Kurram River collapsing after an explosion in Mir Ali, in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, authorities said on Wednesday Jan 14, 2026. Officials said unidentified militants carried out the attack by planting explosives on the bridge, causing a large section of the structure to collapse completely and forcing the suspension of all traffic. The blast severed road links to surrounding areas, including Miranshah and Mir Ali, leaving thousands of residents stranded. Commercial activity in the area came to a standstill, while daily life and social routines were severely disrupted. Authorities said security forces have increased their presence in the area and launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack. Rescue and relief operations are underway to assist affected residents and mitigate the impact of the bridge’s collapse, officials added.
