Story
An Israeli military spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani said in a video statement that the Israeli-U.S joint strikes on Saturday Feb 28, 2026 inside Tehran killed several of Iran’s most senior military and defense officials, targeting a high-level leadership meeting and further dismantling the country’s security command structure. According to the Israeli military, the operation began with a surprise attack after military intelligence identified two locations in Tehran where top figures in Iran’s security establishment had gathered. The strikes, carried out early in the morning, were described as a deliberate attempt to eliminate senior decision-makers responsible for Iran’s military operations and weapons programs. Israel announces that the initial strike killed: Mohammad Pakpour: Head of the IRGC Ground Forces Ali Shamkhani: Senior security adviser to the Supreme Leader Mohammad Shirazi: Chief of the Supreme Leader’s military office Aziz Nasirzadeh: Defense Minister Salah Esadi: Intelligence chief at Khatam al Anbiya Headquarters Reza Mozaffari Nia: Former deputy defense minister and head of Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research (SPND) Hossein Jabal Ameli: Current deputy defense minister and head of Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research (SPND) The statement's claim of killing of Iran's senior military leaders could not be verified at the moment.
