Story

Crash footage shows an Israeli Air Force Yanshuf helicopter — Israel’s version of the UH-60 Black Hawk — falling to the ground after a transport cable snapped mid-air during a recovery lift operation in the West Bank, near Ma’ale Amos, on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026. The Israeli Air Force said the helicopter was being airlifted when the sling-load cable failed, causing the aircraft to crash into a hillside. No injuries were reported, according to military officials. The helicopter conducting the recovery operation was forced to make an emergency landing in difficult-to-access terrain following the incident. The Black Hawk had previously made an emergency landing earlier this week in the Gush Etzion region due to a technical malfunction, prompting the recovery effort. The Israeli Air Force said the cause of the cable failure is under investigation.
