Story
Footage shared by protesters shows demonstrations filled the streets of the capital Tehran, Iran, on Friday night as human rights groups say at least 48 protesters were killed. Iran is approaching the end of its 13th day of widespread anti-government protests which have so far seen 48 protesters killed, according to two human rights groups. Earlier, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei dismissed protesters as “vandals” who were just trying "to please the president of the US", as he went on to vow that the government “will not back down”. Demonstrations first began in Tehran last month - triggered by a sharp slide in the value of the rial currency - but have since spread to all 31 of the country's provinces.
