CCTV footage of police shooting knife-wielding man in Hong Kong

Security camera footage shows a man brandishing a knife on a sidewalk before moving toward Tuen Mun Town Plaza, in Hong Kong, on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2026, prompting bystanders to flee as police intervened. Police told reporters that the officers fired live rounds to subdue the suspect at around 7:13 p.m. Several gunshots can be heard in the video as officers move in. The man was taken to Tuen Mun Hospital in an unconscious state, police said. The Hospital Authority later confirmed he was pronounced dead at 8:47 p.m. Authorities said the cause of the incident remains under investigation.
